If you worked for Studio One Theaters at any time since the theater opened in late 2018, you may be eligible for a payment from a class action settlement over alleged tip pooling and wage practices.
Most eligible employees do not need to file a claim. If you’re included in the settlement, your payment will be mailed automatically. Just make sure your mailing address is up to date.
Why this lawsuit exists?
The lawsuit alleged that VCE Theaters LLC, doing business as Studio One Theaters, violated wage-and-hour laws by including managers and supervisors in employee tip pools.
The case also included claims related to wage practices.
Who qualifies?
You may be included in the settlement if all of the following apply:
- You worked for VCE Theaters LLC d/b/a Studio One Theaters between the theater’s opening in late 2018 and April 9, 2026.
- You received a paycheck during a pay period in which you participated in a tip pool that included managers, supervisors, or other statutory employers.
- You did not work exclusively in positions identified as “hourly manager” or “lead” in Studio One’s Ready Theater Systems records.
There are two groups of eligible employees:
- Class Members – Eligible current and former employees who meet the settlement criteria.
- Collective Members – Employees who timely opted into the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) collective action and did not withdraw from the lawsuit.
How much can you receive?
The settlement provides two payment levels:
- Class Members: $138.00
- Collective Members (FLSA opt-ins): $276.01
Collective Members receive a larger payment because they receive two settlement shares, one as a Class Member and one as a Collective Member.
Payments will come from the $280,000 settlement fund, after court-approved attorneys’ fees, expenses, administration costs, and service awards are deducted.
