STIHL Recalls BR 800 Backpack Blowers Due to Laceration Hazard

If you recently purchased a STIHL BR 800 backpack blower, here’s what you need to know. A new recall has been issued, and while no injuries have been reported, the issue is serious enough that owners should stop using the blower immediately.

What’s Being Recalled and Why

STIHL is recalling its BR 800 Magnum backpack blowers (models X and C-E) because the fan wheel inside the blower can break apart, which may lead to a laceration hazard.

The company has not received any reports of injuries, but the defect can cause sharp pieces of the fan wheel to break loose—so the recall is being handled proactively.

Which Products Are Affected

This recall applies only to BR 800 blowers that meet all the following:

  • Product: STIHL BR 800 Magnum Backpack Blower
  • Models:
    • BR 800 X Magnum
    • BR 800 C-E Magnum
  • Colors: Gray and orange with “STIHL,” “BR 800,” and “X” or “C-E” printed on the back
  • Serial Number Range:
    546515117 through 547916107
(Serial numbers appear on a label on the blower tube.)

If your blower’s serial number does not fall within that range, it is not included in this recall.

What You Should Do

  • Stop using the blower immediately.
  • Take the unit to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
  • STIHL will provide a free inspection and fan wheel replacement if your blower is included in the recall.
  • Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself.

Key Dates or Safety Alerts

  • Recall Date: November 6, 2025
  • Units Recalled: About 47,800
  • Recall Type: Safety repair (free service provided)
  • Injuries Reported: None

These blowers were sold at authorized STIHL dealers nationwide from May 2025 through September 2025 for around $600 (model X) and $700 (model C-E).
