If you bought a travel-size Afrin Original Nasal Spray (6 mL) recently, check your bottle. Bayer has recalled about 786,100 bottles because the packaging may not be child-resistant, creating a potential poisoning risk for young children.
Consumers with affected bottles may be eligible for a refund.
Why This Recall Was Issued
According to the recall notice, the affected 6 mL Afrin Original Nasal Spray bottles contain an imidazoline ingredient that must either:
- Be sold in child-resistant packaging, or
- Include special warning labels required under federal law.
The recalled bottles allegedly did neither. The concern is that if a young child swallows the contents, it could lead to serious injury or illness from poisoning.
No injuries have been reported so far.
