Pennsylvania State Education Association $2.5M Data Breach Settlement: Claim Up to $5,000

If you received a notice that your information may have been impacted in the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) data incident, you may be eligible to claim cash and credit monitoring from a $2,500,000 class action settlement.

What happened?

A class action lawsuit alleged that the Pennsylvania State Education Association failed to implement reasonable data security measures, leading to unauthorized access to its systems around July 6, 2024. According to the allegations, sensitive personal data may have been exposed, including:

  • Full names and addresses
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license or state IDs
  • Financial account information and payment details
  • Passwords, PINs, and usernames
  • Health insurance and medical information

 

The incident was publicly announced on or about March 18, 2025.

Who is eligible?

You may be a Settlement Class Member if:

  • You are a U.S. resident
  • Your private information was potentially compromised in the PSEA data incident
  • You were notified by PSEA about the March 2025 data incident (or otherwise identified as affected)

 

Excluded:

  • PSEA board members
  • Government entities
  • Court staff and immediate family of the judge

How much money can you get?

The $2.5 million settlement fund provides three main benefits:

  • Up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses
  • OR a $50 estimated cash payment (no documentation required)
  • Plus 2 years of credit monitoring

 

Examples of eligible losses include:

  • Identity theft or fraud-related expenses
  • Credit monitoring or credit freeze costs
  • Notary, postage, copying, mileage, and phone charges
  • Credit report fees
  • Other documented mitigation expenses tied to the incident

How to file a claim?

To get benefits, you can file in two ways:

  • Online claim form (fastest option)
  • Or mail a completed paper form to the settlement administrator

  • Your Class Member ID (from your notice email or letter)
  • PIN (for online filing)
  • Documentation if claiming out-of-pocket losses
