Bought a Belkin power bank in California between January 2, 2016 and April 16, 2024? You may be entitled to a $5 voucher or $2 cash if you request it.
Belkin International, Inc. has agreed to a proposed class action settlement over how it advertised the battery capacity (mAh) of certain power banks. Here’s what that means for you, and how to claim your benefit before the deadline.
Why This Lawsuit Exists?
The lawsuit alleges that Belkin breached a warranty by misrepresenting the milliampere-hour (mAh) numbers listed on power bank packaging and advertisements.
According to the plaintiff, the advertised mAh number referred to the internal battery size, not the amount of power the device could actually deliver.
Belkin denies any wrongdoing and denies violating the law. The Court has not ruled that Belkin did anything wrong. The settlement is a proposed resolution and must still receive final Court approval.
As part of the settlement, Belkin also agreed to implement changes to its product packaging to clarify that the mAh number refers to the internal battery.
