Toyota Camry HVAC Settlement – California Drivers Could Get Cash Back for A/C Odor Repairs

If you owned or leased a 2012–2015 Toyota Camry in California, you may be entitled to up to $100 in reimbursement for A/C-related repairs caused by foul odors or mold in your vehicle’s HVAC system.

Claim Deadline: May 31, 2026 (for 2014–2015 Camry repairs after May 31, 2024).

Why the Lawsuit Exists

California drivers filed a lawsuit claiming that Toyota’s HVAC systems trapped moisture, leading to mold growth and bad smells inside certain Camry models.

The lawsuit—Salas, et al. v. Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc., Case No. 2:15-cv-08629-HDV-E—alleges that Toyota failed to properly design or disclose the HVAC issue. Toyota denies all wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.

The Toyota Camry HVAC Settlement helps reimburse consumers for reasonable out-of-pocket repair costs related to this defect.

Who Qualifies

You may qualify if you:

  • Lived in California at any point before May 31, 2024, and
  • Owned or leased a 2012–2015 Toyota Camry XV50 in California.

Excluded: Toyota employees, dealers, attorneys involved in the case, and court personnel.

How Much You Can Get

If you’re part of this Toyota Camry HVAC settlement, you could be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses tied to the vehicle’s HVAC system issue. That includes costs to replace or install a charcoal filter or flush the evaporator.

  • For expenses before May 31, 2024, class members can receive reimbursement for the full cost they paid (amount varies based on actual expenses).
  • For expenses after May 31, 2024, class members may receive up to $100 per vehicle.

All claims require proof of payment, such as receipts, invoices, or repair statements.
