Empower Brands has recalled about 56,300 Remington hair dryers because they lack an immersion protection device, the safety feature that shuts off power if the dryer touches water.
Without this safeguard, the dryers can pose a serious risk of electrocution or shock, which could lead to severe injury or even death.
No injuries have been reported yet, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns that the hazard is significant.
