Beaver Street Fisheries is recalling certain packages of Great Value Frozen Raw Shrimp sold at Walmart due to possible contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive material that may pose a long-term health risk if consumed regularly over time.
This is a precautionary recall—no illnesses have been reported, but the FDA is urging consumers to take action.
What’s Being Recalled and Why
The recall affects Great Value Frozen Raw Shrimp because of a possible contamination with Cesium-137 (Cs-137), a radioactive substance.
Cesium-137 can occur in the environment at low levels, but higher levels may pose a cancer risk with long-term exposure.
The shrimp was linked to a facility flagged in an FDA advisory.
So far, no shrimp tested positive, but the FDA recommends recalling these items out of caution.
