Recall Alert: DT Swiss Carbon Wheels May Pose Crash Risk

If you ride a high-end road bike with carbon wheels, this recall might affect your safety. DT Swiss has issued a recall for several models of their carbon fiber road wheels due to a crash hazard.

What’s Being Recalled and Why

Product: DT Swiss Carbon Fiber Road Wheels
Issue: A defect in the carbon layer could cause the wheel’s structure to weaken or fail.
Risk: If the outer carbon layer separates near the rim, you could crash while riding.
Reports so far: 6 reports of carbon separation. No injuries reported.

Which Products Are Affected

The recall includes several DT Swiss wheel models sold both individually and as original equipment on premium bikes. Look for the model code and DT Swiss ID code on the outside of the rim.

Affected Models:
  • ERC 35mm / 45mm
  • CRC 35mm / 45mm
  • HEC 35mm / 45mm
  • ARC 50mm / 55mm / 65mm

Your wheels are affected if the DT Swiss ID code is 2740000 or higher.
This number is on a small label on the outer rim that says: “DT Swiss ID” followed by a 7-digit number.

What You Should Do

  1. Stop riding immediately if your wheels are part of the recall.
  2. Locate the DT Swiss ID code on your wheel rim.
  3. Register your wheels with DT Swiss to get a free replacement.

You’ll need to complete a quick form to verify your wheels and start the replacement process.
