No Proof Required – Nutramax Cosequin Dog Supplements $11.5M Class Action Settlement

If you bought certain Cosequin dog supplements in California, you could qualify for a cash payment from an $11.5 million class action settlement. Eligible consumers may receive up to $150 per household. The current claim form does not require proof of purchase upfront.

What happened?

The lawsuit claimed that Nutramax Laboratories Inc. and Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences Inc. made misleading statements about the benefits and effectiveness of certain Cosequin-branded dog supplements in product packaging and advertising.

According to the lawsuit, consumers were allegedly led to believe the supplements provided specific mobility, cartilage, and joint health benefits for dogs.

Nutramax denies any wrongdoing, but agreed to settle the case to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation.

As part of the settlement, Nutramax also agreed to remove certain statements from future packaging, including:

  • “mobility, cartilage and joint health support”
  • “supports mobility for a healthy lifestyle”
  • “use Cosequin to help your pet climb stairs, rise and jump!”
