If you’ve purchased button cell or coin batteries recently, this recall is important to check. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of select Great Lakes Select battery packs because they do not meet federal child safety requirements.

What’s Being Recalled and Why?
Great Lakes Wholesale International is recalling certain Great Lakes Select button cell and coin battery packs because the packaging is not child-resistant and does not include required warning labels under Reese’s Law.
Button cell and coin batteries can be extremely dangerous if swallowed. According to the recall notice, ingestion can cause serious internal chemical burns and, in severe cases, death.
No injuries have been reported so far
Which Products Are Affected?
The recall includes Great Lakes Select battery packs with the brand name printed on the back of the packaging and an item number on the front.
Affected item numbers and battery types include:
Item 00263: Pack of six (6) CR2032
Item 00264: Pack of nine (9) CR2016 / CR2032 / CR2025
Item 00265: Pack of nine (9) CR2032
Item 00271: Pack of thirty (30) mixed batteries
Item 00272: Pack of forty (40) mixed super alkaline batteries
Item 00276: Pack of twenty-four (24) LR44/357 super alkaline batteries
