If you purchased or acquired GYEN when it was unpegged from the Japanese yen and lost money, you may be included in a $6,750,000 class action settlement.
This settlement covers eligible purchases made between December 29, 2020 and October 10, 2025 in New York or California.
What happened?
This case is Donovan v. GMO-Z.com Trust Company, Inc. The lawsuit alleges that GMO-Z.com Trust Company:
- Failed to provide accurate disclosures about GYEN’s stability
- Allowed GYEN to become unpegged from the Japanese yen
- Caused financial losses for some purchasers during that period
Who is eligible?
You may be a class member if you:
- Purchased or acquired GYEN
- Did so in New York or California
- Bought or held it during a time it was unpegged from the Japanese yen
- Did so between Dec. 29, 2020 and Oct. 10, 2025
- Lost money as a result
Important note: Your payout will depend on transaction history, timing, and losses calculated under the court-approved formula.
How much money can you get?
There is a $6,750,000 settlement fund, and payments are calculated individually.
Your payout depends on:
- How much GYEN you bought
- When you bought or sold it
- The price at each transaction
- Your total recognized losses under the court plan
Key payout rules:
- Payments are based on a pro rata (shared) distribution
- Only claims resulting in $10 or more will receive payment
- Final amounts vary widely depending on trading activity
