Country Eggs Recalls Sunshine Yolks Cage-Free Eggs Due to Salmonella Risk

Before you make breakfast — check your eggs! If you’ve picked up Sunshine Yolks Cage-Free Eggs recently in California or Nevada, there’s an important recall you need to know about. Some cartons may be contaminated with Salmonella, and they’ve already been linked to several illnesses.

What’s Being Recalled and Why

Country Eggs, LLC is recalling its Large Brown Cage-Free Sunshine Yolks because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious — sometimes even life-threatening — illness, especially in young children, seniors, or people with weakened immune systems.

So far, there have been 92 reported illnesses, but no deaths. The recall is happening out of caution, and production has been paused while the investigation continues.

Which Products Are Affected

These eggs were sold in California and Nevada to both grocery stores and foodservice distributors.
