Foreign-trained registered nurses who were sponsored by CommuniCare through the immigration process may qualify for a payment from a $1 million class action settlement.
The lawsuit claims CommuniCare Family of Companies and WorldWide HealthStaff Solutions used unlawful employment practices involving contract terms and fees charged to nurses who left before completing their contracts.
If you worked for CommuniCare during the covered period, this settlement could affect your rights, and some class members may need to take action to receive additional compensation.
What happened?
The lawsuit alleged that CommuniCare Family of Companies and WorldWide HealthStaff Solutions required foreign-trained nurses to pay substantial fees if they left before their contract terms ended.
The case also included wage-and-hour related claims connected to employment contracts and compensation practices.
Who is eligible?
You may be included in the settlement if all of the following apply:
- You are a foreign-trained registered nurse
- You were sponsored by CommuniCare during the immigration process
- You worked for CommuniCare at any time between Feb. 17, 2013, and Oct. 13, 2025
The settlement administrator identified class members using company employment records. If you received a postcard, email, or text notice, you are likely included in the settlement.
There are also two groups in the settlement:
- Settlement Class: All eligible nurses
- FLSA Settlement Collective: Nurses who choose to opt in for additional Fair Labor Standards Act compensation
How much money can you get?
Payments vary based on each person’s work history and whether they paid money to CommuniCare.
Potential payments include:
- Approximately half of any money paid back to CommuniCare for leaving a contract early
- A share of the remaining settlement funds based on how long you worked
- An approximately 10% larger non-reimbursement payment for class members who opt in to the FLSA collective
The total settlement fund is $1,000,000.
