Why Did This Lawsuit Happen?
The lawsuit alleged that Alta Resources Corp. failed to adequately protect sensitive personal and health information during a targeted cyberattack in November 2023.
According to the lawsuit, unauthorized individuals gained access to files containing private information.
Who Qualifies for the Settlement?
You may qualify if you received a notice from Alta Resources stating that your private information may have been compromised in the November 2023 data breach.
Eligible class members can choose between reimbursement for documented losses or an alternative cash payment, and all class members may enroll in free credit monitoring.
How Much Can You Receive?

Option 1: Expense Reimbursement
Claim up to $2,000 for documented out-of-pocket expenses related to the data breach, including:
- Identity theft or fraud losses
- Credit report or credit monitoring fees

- Costs to replace identification documents
- Postage for contacting financial institutions

Option 2: Alternative Cash Payment
Receive a one-time cash payment estimated at $50. The final payment amount may be higher or lower depending on the total number of valid claims submitted. No documentation is required for this option.

How to File a Claim?
To receive settlement benefits, you must submit a valid claim form by August 17, 2026.
You can:
- Complete the claim form online using the Unique ID and PIN from your settlement notice.
- Download and mail a paper claim form if you prefer.
If you’ve lost your Unique ID or PIN, contact the Settlement Administrator using the information provided in your notice.
If you’re requesting expense reimbursement, you’ll need to provide supporting documentation such as bank statements, receipts, invoices, or similar records showing your losses were related to the data breach.
