No Proof Needed—Albertsons to Shell Out $5.95M for Spam Texts

Did you keep getting text messages from Albertsons, Safeway, or Star Market even after asking them to stop? You could be eligible for a payout from a $5.95 million settlement.

Here’s the breakdown

Why is there a lawsuit?

A class action lawsuit claimed Albertsons Companies, Inc. (including Safeway, Star Market, and related brands) sent marketing texts to consumers after they had requested to stop.

This allegedly violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), which protects consumers from unwanted calls and texts.

Albertsons denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle.

Who qualifies?

You may be included if you:

  • Received two or more unsolicited text messages (or telemarketing calls) from Albertsons, Safeway, Star Market, or their affiliates/subsidiaries

  • Within a 12-month period

  • After asking them to stop

  • Between June 1, 2023 and the date of preliminary approval of the settlement.

How much can people get?

  • Class members will receive an equal share of the net settlement fund.

  • The estimated payout is around $100, depending on the number of valid claims.
