Up to $5,100 – Mission Community Hospital (Deanco Healthcare) Data Breach Settlement

If you received a notice from Mission Community Hospital, Deanco Healthcare, or a Deanco affiliate stating that your information may have been affected by the May 1, 2023 data breach, you may be eligible to claim up to $5,100, plus additional cash benefits and free medical monitoring through a $1.55 million class action settlement.

Why this lawsuit exists?

The lawsuit alleges that Deanco Healthcare LLC, d/b/a Mission Community Hospital, failed to adequately protect patients’ and other individuals’ sensitive personal and medical information during a cybersecurity attack on May 1, 2023.

According to the lawsuit, the breach exposed information such as:

  • Names and addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Financial account information
  • Health insurance information
  • Claims data
  • Clinical information

The plaintiffs alleged negligence and other legal claims related to the protection of personal information.

Deanco Healthcare denies any wrongdoing but agreed to establish a $1,546,409.42 settlement fund to resolve the litigation.

Who qualifies?

You may qualify if you:

  • Received a written notice from Mission Community Hospital, Deanco Healthcare, or a Deanco affiliate on or around November 21, 2023, and
  • The notice stated that your personal and/or protected health information may have been compromised in the May 1, 2023 data breach.

How much can you receive?

Depending on your circumstances, eligible class members may receive one or more of the following:

  • Up to $5,000 for documented, unreimbursed losses related to the data breach
  • $100 California Statutory Payment (for eligible California residents)
  • A residual cash payment from the remaining settlement fund
  • Two years of Medical Monitoring Services, including:
    • Single-bureau credit monitoring
    • Medical identity monitoring
    • Dark web monitoring
    • High-risk transaction monitoring
    • $1 million identity theft insurance
    • Identity theft recovery assistance

How to file a claim?

Eligible class members can submit a claim online or by mail.

To file a claim, you’ll need:

  • Your Class Member ID from your settlement notice
  • Supporting documentation if requesting reimbursement for documented losses (such as receipts, invoices, bank statements, or proof of fraud-related expenses)
