If you lived at Stonegate Meadows Apartment Complex in Kansas City, Missouri, you may be included in one of four class action settlements totaling $3.98 million.
The good news? Most eligible tenants do not need to file a claim. If you’re included in one of the settlement classes, your payment will be mailed automatically after the settlement receives final approval.
Why Did This Lawsuit Happen?
The lawsuits alleged that various owners and management companies responsible for Stonegate Meadows Apartment Complex failed to maintain the property in a safe, sanitary, and habitable condition.
According to the plaintiffs, tenants were forced to live in unsafe and unhealthy conditions while paying rent.
The defendants deny all allegations and any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the lawsuits to avoid the expense and uncertainty of continued litigation.
Who Qualifies for the Settlement?
Eligibility depends on when you lived at Stonegate Meadows.

How Much Can You Receive?
Payments vary based on the number of months you lived at Stonegate Meadows during the applicable class period.
Each settlement has its own fund:
- $2,000,000 — Johnson v. Stonegate Meadows Apartments LLC, et al.
- $950,000 — Johnson v. Stonegate Meadows, L.P. and Eagle Point Management, LLC
- $700,000 — Johnson v. Young Management Corporation
- $330,000 — Johnson v. Yarco Company, Inc.
After court-approved attorneys’ fees, service awards, administration costs, and other approved expenses are paid, the remaining funds will be distributed among eligible tenants. Generally, the longer you lived at the property during the covered period, the larger your payment may be.
If money remains after the first round of payments, the settlement administrator may conduct a second distribution. Any remaining funds after that would be donated to Legal Aid of Western Missouri.

How to File a Claim?
No claim form is required.
Eligible class members will automatically receive a check based on the defendants’ records.
