A data breach can derail your week — or your year — so this settlement is designed to help people whose information was exposed get compensated and protected. Restek Corp. has agreed to offer payments, lost-time reimbursement, and two years of free credit monitoring, but only to those who received a notice about the incident.
Below is everything you need to know to check eligibility and file quickly.
Why is there a lawsuit?
Restek Corp. reported a data security incident in June 2023 involving unauthorized access to company systems. Files containing sensitive personal information were potentially compromised for certain current and former employees.
A class action lawsuit followed, alleging Restek failed to safeguard this information. Restek denies wrongdoing but agreed to a settlement to avoid the cost and uncertainty of further litigation.
Data that may have been affected includes:
Names
Social Security numbers
Dates of birth
Driver’s license numbers
Passport numbers
Employer or system ID numbers
Financial information
Medical and health insurance information
Who qualifies?
You’re part of the class only if all three apply:
You live in the United States, and
Restek identified your personal information as potentially compromised in the June 2, 2023 data breach, and
You received a notice from Restek about the incident.
Your postcard notice will also contain your Notice ID and PIN, which are required for claims.
How much can people get?
Class members may claim one or more benefits, depending on their circumstances:
Ordinary Losses (up to $425)
For documented, unreimbursed expenses such as:
Credit repair tools
Fees for freezing/unfreezing credit
Gas or postage for breach-related tasks
Credit monitoring or identity theft protection purchased between Dec. 5, 2023 and Jan. 9, 2026
Attorney or accountant fees
Lost time (maximum 4 hours at $20/hr, up to $80) also counts toward the $425 cap.
Extraordinary Losses (up to $3,500)
For documented identity theft-related monetary losses tied to the data breach.
Alternative Cash Payment ($50)
A flat payment if you’re not submitting any losses or lost time. No documentation required.
Free Credit Monitoring (2 years)
All class members who submit a valid claim can receive:
Single-bureau credit monitoring
Dark web monitoring
$1M identity theft insurance

Important Funding Note
