Murfreesboro Medical Clinic Data Breach Settlement: You May Be Eligible for Up to $500

Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC) has agreed to a class action settlement over a 2023 data breach, and affected patients and employees may qualify for cash reimbursement and free credit monitoring—but you must file a claim by April 14, 2026 to get paid.

Below is what matters and what to do next.

Why This Lawsuit Exists?

In April 2023, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic experienced a ransomware attack that allegedly allowed third-party criminals to access private and personally identifiable health information.

Plaintiffs claim MMC failed to use reasonable cybersecurity measures to protect patient data.
MMC denies all wrongdoing, says it was a victim of criminal activity, and agreed to settle to avoid the cost and burden of further litigation.

Who Qualifies for the Settlement?

You are included if all of the following apply:

  • Your private information may have been compromised in the April 2023 MMC data breach
  • MMC sent (or caused to be sent) you a data breach notice
  • You are not excluded (e.g., you didn’t opt out, and you’re not MMC leadership or the judge)

You’re included whether or not you actually received the notice, as long as it was sent.
