Why This Lawsuit Exists
A December 2023 data breach exposed sensitive personal and health information held by Medusind, Inc., a medical and dental billing and software company.
The lawsuit claims Medusind failed to use reasonable cybersecurity measures, allowing hackers to access or steal data such as:
Names and addresses
Social Security and government ID numbers
Health and insurance data
Payment and billing information
Medusind denies wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $5 million to resolve the claims and improve its data security.
Who Qualifies
You may qualify if you:
Live in the U.S., and
Received a notice from Medusind stating that your personal information may have been impacted by the December 29, 2023 data incident.
There’s also a California Settlement Subclass for residents of California on that date, who can receive an additional $100 payment.
How Much You Can Get
Settlement payments include several options:
Up to $5,000 for documented losses (e.g., fraud, identity theft, credit costs, communication fees, etc.)
$100 alternative cash payment if you have no documentation
Additional $100 for California residents
Two years of free credit monitoring (optional add-on)
