If you delivered for Grubhub in California over the past several years, there may be money waiting for you.
A $24.75 million class action settlement has been reached in Lawson et al. v. Grubhub Holdings Inc., resolving claims that Grubhub misclassified drivers and failed to properly reimburse expenses and pay wages under California law.
Here’s the key point: eligible drivers who submit a valid claim will receive a cash payment based on miles driven, with a minimum payment of at least $25.
What happened?
The lawsuit alleged that Grubhub:
- Misclassified California delivery drivers as independent contractors instead of employees
- Failed to reimburse necessary business expenses
- Did not properly pay minimum wage or overtime required under California law
Who is eligible?
You may be a Class Member if ALL of the following apply:
- You entered into an agreement with Grubhub to use the platform as an independent contractor delivery driver
- You completed at least one (1) delivery in California
- Your deliveries occurred between December 3, 2014 and March 13, 2026
If that’s you, you are likely included in this settlement.
How much money can you get?
Payments are based on a pro rata share tied to miles driven during the qualifying period.
- Minimum payment: $25
- Higher payments possible depending on:
- Your estimated miles driven
- Total miles driven by all class members
The settlement administrator will calculate the final amount after claims are processed.
