Used an Android phone on cellular data anytime in the past few years? You may be included in this $135 million class action settlement, and in many cases, you don’t even need to file a claim to get paid.
Why This Lawsuit Exists?
This case, Taylor v. Google LLC, claims that Google’s Android operating system sent data back to Google without users’ permission, even when phones were idle.
According to the lawsuit:
- Android devices allegedly transferred information in the background
- These transfers used users’ cellular data
- Google allegedly benefited from this data collection
Google denies any wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $135,000,000 to resolve the claims and avoid further litigation.
The settlement also requires updates to data disclosures and settings on Android devices.
Who Qualifies?
You may be included if:
- You are a U.S. resident
- You used a device running the Android operating system
- You accessed the internet using cellular data (not just Wi-Fi)
- Your usage occurred anytime between November 12, 2017, and final approval
- You are not part of the separate Csupo v. Google case
This settlement could cover up to 100 million people, so there’s a strong chance you qualify if you used Android during that time.

- Payments are estimated at up to $100 per person
Your actual amount depends on:
