If you received a notice saying your personal information may have been exposed in the August 2024 Abbott Laboratories Employees Credit Union (ALEC) data breach, you may be eligible for money and other benefits through a class action settlement.
Eligible class members can submit a claim for up to $2,500 in documented losses, receive a pro rata cash payment, and enroll in two years of free financial monitoring services.
The claim deadline is September 3, 2026.
Why was there a lawsuit?
The lawsuit alleges that Abbott Laboratories Employees Credit Union (ALEC) failed to adequately protect customers’ personal information after a targeted cyberattack in August 2024.
According to the lawsuit, unauthorized parties accessed files containing sensitive information, including:
Names
Financial account information
Social Security numbers
ALEC denies any wrongdoing, and the court has not determined who is right. Both sides agreed to settle the case to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation.
