$4.25M PurFoods Data Breach Settlement

If you received a notice from PurFoods (Mom’s Meals) about your personal data being compromised, you may be eligible for money or free credit monitoring from a new $4.25M settlement.

Why is there a lawsuit?

Between January 16 – February 22, 2023, PurFoods experienced a cyberattack. Personal information of about 1.25 million people may have been accessed or stolen.

 

A lawsuit (Douglas et al v. PurFoods, Inc.) claimed the company failed to protect that data. PurFoods denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.

Who qualifies?

You’re included if you:

  • Live in the U.S. and

  • Received a notice in August or September 2023 that your personal information may have been affected.

 

Excluded: PurFoods officers/directors, certain court staff, opt-outs, or anyone responsible for the incident.

How much can people get?

You have three benefit options:

Important Dates

  • Opt-Out Deadline: September 30, 2025

  • Objection Deadline: September 30, 2025

  • Claim Deadline: October 30, 2025

  • Final Approval Hearing: November 20, 2025

Payments will be issued after final approval and once any appeals are resolved.

Filing is free and only takes a few minutes:

  1. Go to the official settlement website.

  2. Choose your benefit (loss payment, cash award, or credit monitoring).

  3. Submit online by October 30, 2025 or mail a paper claim (postmarked by the deadline).
