Concerts, plays, or musicals might’ve cost you a little more than you thought, and now you could get some of that money back.
ATG Tickets US, LLC has agreed to a $1 million settlement to resolve claims it failed to disclose online order processing fees upfront when people purchased tickets through several New York theater websites.
Here’s what you need to know and how to claim your cash refund.
Why is there a lawsuit?
The lawsuit alleged that ATG Tickets violated New York’s Arts and Cultural Affairs Law §25.07(4) by not clearly disclosing an “Order Processing Fee” at the first time the ticket price was shown. Customers claim the extra fee only appeared later in checkout, making it look like a hidden cost.
ATG Tickets denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the time and expense of ongoing litigation.
Who qualifies?
You’re included in this settlement if you paid an order processing fee when purchasing tickets online through any of these official theater websites:
Kings Theatre – from March 27, 2023 to March 12, 2024 (for seated tickets) or to March 27, 2024 (for General Admission Pit tickets)
Hudson Theatre – from August 29, 2022 to March 12, 2024
Lyric Theatre – from August 29, 2022 to March 12, 2024
How much can people get?
Eligible class members can receive a cash refund per ticket purchased online during the covered dates:
$5.00 for Kings Theatre
$3.50 for Lyric Theatre
$3.00 for Hudson Theatre
Final amounts may be adjusted slightly depending on how many valid claims are filed.
