If you got a data breach notice from WebTPA, you may be eligible for money (and free monitoring) from a new $13.75 million class action settlement.
Here’s what you need to know.
Why is there a lawsuit?
In April 2023, WebTPA — a third-party health plan administrator — experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive consumer information.
A lawsuit claimed the company failed to use reasonable cybersecurity measures that could have prevented the incident.
WebTPA denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.
Who qualifies?
You may be part of this settlement if:
You live in the U.S. and
You received a notification from WebTPA stating your personal data was potentially compromised in the April 18–23, 2023 breach
California residents during that period qualify for an extra $50 payment.
How much can people get?
Class members can choose between:
Up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses (must provide proof, like receipts or bank statements)
Flat $100 payment (no proof needed)
California residents: +$50 bonus
All class members: 2 years of free medical identity monitoring (with alerts + up to $1M in coverage)
