The Polyclinic $350K Disability Accommodation Settlement

If you received care from The Polyclinic and requested an accommodation for a hearing, vision, or speech disability that was not properly provided, you may qualify for a payment from a $350,000 settlement.

Eligible patients who submit a valid claim may receive a cash payment, with the amount based on the number of qualifying appointments. The deadline to submit a claim is August 8, 2026.

What happened?

The settlement resolves claims following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) into whether The Polyclinic failed to provide qualified interpreters and other communication aids for patients with hearing, vision, and/or speech disabilities.

The DOJ alleged that, between Jan. 1, 2021, and Sept. 30, 2025, some patients were denied the auxiliary aids and services needed for effective communication during medical appointments, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Polyclinic agreed to resolve the matter without further litigation and, as part of the agreement, will also implement improvements to its communication accommodation policies.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible if all of the following apply:

  • You were a current or former patient of The Polyclinic.
  • You received health care between Jan. 1, 2021, and Sept. 30, 2025.
  • You requested an accommodation for a hearing, vision, or speech disability, such as a qualified interpreter or another communication aid.
  • Either:
    • The Polyclinic did not provide an adequate accommodation, or
    • You filed one or more grievances or complaints alleging ineffective communication during the qualifying period.

How much money can you get?

Eligible claimants may receive a cash payment from the $350,000 settlement fund.

Your payment amount will depend on:

  • The number of qualifying appointments during which an appropriate interpreter or communication aid was not provided.
  • The total number of valid claims submitted.

The settlement administrator will calculate each approved payment based on these factors.
