Shimano Crankset Settlement — Get Reimbursed for Replacement Costs or Enjoy an Extended Warranty Through 2027!

Deadline to File a Claim: August 4, 2026 | Eligible Models: Ultegra & Dura-Ace Cranksets (Made Before July 2019) | Proof Required: No (Declaration acceptable if receipts unavailable)

What’s This Lawsuit About?

Cyclists who owned certain Shimano Hollowtech II cranksets may finally get some relief. The lawsuit claimed that bonding separation or delamination could occur in specific cranksets made before July 2019, potentially leading to safety risks. Plaintiffs also said the recall and warranty coverage didn’t go far enough.

While Shimano denies wrongdoing, it agreed to a settlement that offers cash reimbursement for replacements and an extended warranty through July 29, 2027.

Who Qualifies

You’re included if you purchased, received, were given, or owned one of these Shimano cranksets in the U.S. (not for resale):

  • Ultegra FC-6800
  • Ultegra FC-R8000
  • Dura-Ace FC-9000
  • Dura-Ace FC-R9100
  • Dura-Ace FC-R9100-P

The crankset must have been manufactured before July 2019 and include one of the two-letter production codes listed on the official site.

Photographs of the Designated Cranksets and where to locate the production codes are available on the CPSC recall page here.

How Much You Can Get

If you replaced your crankset because it separated, delaminated, or showed early signs of either issue, you may get reimbursed for your out-of-pocket replacement and installation costs.

There’s no fixed payout — your reimbursement equals your documented expenses that meet the settlement rules.

You’ll need to show proof such as a receipt, invoice, or photo, but if you can’t locate them, you can submit a signed declaration instead.

Even if you don’t file a claim, you’ll automatically receive extended warranty coverage through July 29, 2027, covering bonding separation and delamination.
