IHOP Agrees to $6.3M Settlement in Wage Transparency Suit

If you applied for a job at IHOP in Washington state during 2023, you could be owed money from a new $6.298 million class action settlement.

Here’s what you need to know and how to claim your share.

Why is there a lawsuit?

A lawsuit alleged that Mesk Investments (IHOP franchise owner) violated Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunities Act by posting jobs without listing:

  • Wage scales or salary ranges

  • Descriptions of benefits or compensation

Mesk Investments denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle the case to avoid further litigation.

Who qualifies?

You may be part of the settlement if you:

  • Applied for a job with Mesk Investments (IHOP)

  • In Washington State

  • Between January 1, 2023 – November 30, 2023

  • And the job posting did not disclose pay ranges or benefits

How much can people get?

Eligible class members who submit a valid claim will receive an equal share of the fund, estimated around $1,414.37 each.

  • Maximum possible payout: up to $5,000 per person

  • Final amount depends on how many people file claims and deductions for costs
