Ground Beef Products May be Contaminated With E. Coli O145

If you work in foodservice or source bulk ground beef, this is one to check right away.

On February 11, 2026, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that CS Beef Packers, LLC is recalling approximately 22,912 pounds of raw ground beef products due to possible contamination with E. coli O145.

CS Beef Packers, LLC is recalling certain raw ground beef products after FSIS testing at a downstream customer detected E. coli O145.

E. coli O145 is a type of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). It can cause illness typically 2–8 days after exposure. Symptoms may include diarrhea (often bloody), vomiting, and in rare cases, more severe complications

At this time, no confirmed illnesses have been reported.

Still, food safety officials are concerned some of this product may be in foodservice freezers.

The recalled ground beef products were:

  • Produced on January 14, 2026

  • Labeled with “Use/Freeze By: 02/04/26”

  • Time stamps between 07:03 and 08:32

The affected products were shipped to distributors in California, Idaho, and Oregon for further distribution to foodservice locations.

If you operate a restaurant, catering business, or institutional kitchen in these states, double-check your freezer inventory.

What You Should Do

Do not serve or consume these products.

FSIS urges foodservice locations to immediately stop using the recalled ground beef, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

If you are concerned about illness, contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS also reminds consumers and food handlers to cook ground beef to an internal temperature of 160°F, using a food thermometer to confirm doneness.
