A major settlement is now open for claims after a January 24, 2024 data breach involving Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW). If you received a notice saying your personal or private health information may have been impacted, you could be eligible for up to $5,000, plus three years of medical data monitoring.
Below is a clear breakdown of what happened, who qualifies, and how to submit your claim before the January 20, 2026 deadline.
Why is there a lawsuit?
A data incident on or about Jan. 24, 2024 affected GHC-SCW’s network systems and may have exposed members’ sensitive information—including personally identifiable information and protected health information.
Lawsuits followed, alleging GHC-SCW failed to prevent the breach or adequately safeguard member data.
GHC-SCW denies wrongdoing but agreed to a $3.5 million settlement to resolve the claims and avoid continued litigation.
