If you got a notice from Generations Federal Credit Union (GFCU) about a data breach in December 2022, you may be eligible for up to $5,000 in compensation and free credit monitoring—but you must act before September 15, 2025.
Why Was There a Lawsuit?
Between Dec. 13–15, 2022, GFCU experienced a data breach that allegedly exposed sensitive personal info like Social Security numbers and financial account details.
A class action lawsuit claimed GFCU failed to protect member data. While GFCU denies wrongdoing, it agreed to a settlement to resolve the claims.
Who Qualifies?
You’re eligible if:
You live in the U.S., and
You got a written notification from GFCU saying your data was potentially accessed in the breach.
If you didn’t get a letter, you’re likely not eligible.
What Can You Get?
You can claim multiple benefits, depending on how the breach affected you:
Up to $500 for out-of-pocket expenses (bank fees, credit monitoring, etc.)
Up to $80 for lost time (up to 4 hours at $20/hour)
