Five Star Bank Shells Out $29.5M—Repo Notice Victims Get Cash, No Action Needed

If your vehicle was repossessed by Five Star Bank between May 16, 2011 and September 30, 2021, you may be eligible for money, debt relief, and credit reporting fixes from a $29.5 million class action settlement.

Why is there a lawsuit?

A lawsuit claimed Five Star Bank and Financial Institutions, Inc. failed to send proper notices to borrowers after repossessing and selling vehicles.

Plaintiffs said this violated Pennsylvania and New York law, leaving borrowers without fair warning or rights.

The bank denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle.

Who qualifies?

You may be included if:

  • Your vehicle was repossessed by Five Star Bank

  • And you were sent one or more of the bank’s specific repossession notices between May 16, 2011 and September 30, 2021

How much can people get?

  • Cash payment: Amount varies based on what you paid on your repossessed vehicle loan (check your estimated payment on the settlement website).

  • Debt relief: About $51.6 million in disputed loan deficiencies will be eliminated.

  • Credit report help: The bank will ask credit agencies to delete your auto loan history tied to the repossession.
