If you signed up for Amazon Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you may be eligible for a refund under a $2.5 billion FTC settlement. This settlement resolves claims that Amazon didn’t get proper consent for Prime and made it hard to cancel memberships. Here’s what you need to know and how to act fast.
Why This Lawsuit Exists?
The FTC alleged that Amazon:
- Collected billing info before clearly disclosing the full terms of Prime.
- Failed to obtain express informed consent before enrolling consumers.
- Made it difficult for consumers to cancel their memberships online.
Amazon did not admit any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to compensate affected consumers and avoid further litigation.
Who Qualifies?
You may be eligible if you are a U.S. consumer who:
- Signed up for Prime between June 23, 2019 – June 23, 2025, AND
- Either enrolled through a challenged enrollment method and used no more than 3 Prime benefits in a 12-month period, OR
- Unintentionally enrolled or tried to cancel Prime online but couldn’t, AND
- Used fewer than 10 Prime benefits during any 12-month period of unintentional enrollment, AND
- Have not already received an automatic payment from this settlement
Eligible consumers will receive either an automatic payment or can submit a claims process payment.
