A new class action settlement is now available for people affected by the November 2023 CarePro Health Services data breach. The agreement is worth $1.3 million and offers cash payments, reimbursement for verified losses, and two years of free credit monitoring and identity protection.
Here’s a clear breakdown of what happened, who’s included, and what steps you can take.
Why is there a lawsuit?
On or around November 16, 2023, CarePro Health Services experienced a data incident involving unauthorized access to its systems. This incident exposed unencrypted personal and medical information belonging to patients. The compromised data may include:
Names and contact information
Dates of birth
Driver’s license and state ID numbers
Social Security numbers
Financial account information
Medical and health insurance information
A lawsuit followed, alleging CarePro did not have adequate security measures to protect this sensitive information. CarePro denies any wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.3M settlement to resolve the claims.
Who qualifies?
The settlement covers any individual whose personal information was potentially compromised in the CarePro data breach that occurred in November 2023.
If you received a data breach notification or were informed that your information may have been affected, you are likely part of the Settlement Class.
How much can people get?
